Trade Waste Bylaw Review 2013

Trade Waste Bylaw Review 2013

06 Feb 2017

Watercare replaced four existing trade waste bylaws with one Auckland-wide bylaw, standardising trade waste regulation across the city. A local information session for East Tamaki trade waste customers was held in February and the review decision was announced on 22 August 2013.

The new bylaw moves away from the historic varied consents system to individual contracts relating to each business' specifics. There are two categories – deemed, who will only require a standard ‘working with you' agreement and conditional, requiring a trade waste agreement. GETBA supported the move based on the expected outcome of deemed customers facing reduced compliance costs and the focus being on the customers that typically produce greater trade waste.
